Okay so I know there has been a lack of updates and I’ve been back in the UK for nearly a week. I haven’t even taken my travel dates of my gdar profile yet :o(

I have however addeed some of the holiday pics to flickr.
Including this one taken in Bangkok when Ian took me to a strip bar. They try to sugar coat the place with love hearts and the like but everyone knows it’s all about sex really. Sex by numbers in fact. Come in number 24, your time is up!

Gay history month

I thought it was only in america that they had random monthly community spirited themes, but oh no, here in the UK we seem to have gay history month. So I’m picturing a month of queens blogging their jan/feb conquests. I’m sure this is not what the organisers had in mind. I think they want us to focus on the positive role models through time like Oscar Wilde or the turning points like 1988 when section 28 was passed as law. I think my idea is better though. So here I’ll make a start.
Iain’s Gay History Month
Met a nice man off the internet. Had fun.
Went out for beers. Had fun.
Had hangover at work.
Tried not to obsess about nice man off internet. Failed.

okay maybe I’ll pass up on this as it’s unlikely to be exciting unless I actually wrote who, what, where and when. That however is not goiong to happen. Well not on this site anyway!

Ace Christmas Presents

Amongst the many fabulous presents I got this year three stand out – well actually loads do but three I’m going to mention anyway! One was Change the World for a Fiver: We Are What We Do. It’s an excellent book well worth the fiver and a great gift for birthdays and secret santa’s alike. A few of the 50 tasks I already did/do. Like turning off the tap whilst brushing my teeth. Others I haven’t done yet but am now going to.
Everyone should own one of these books and do the tasks.

Another great gift was a new alarm clock. Yes I know doesn’t sound exciting. It’s a CD player and a radio and it’s from the gadget shop. Oh and plus it has two alarms for those days when I might have more than one person in my bed ;o)

Finally the gift I bought myself! Latter Days (REGION 1 so you need multi region if you live in the UK). I bought the book and read that first. So the next step was to buy the movie. I’d been thinking about it since April last year anyway. I laughed. I cried. I wanted to watch it again immediately.

Disturbingly for the fourth year in a row I’ve been given a decision maker of some sort. The last two years have been gadget shop magic 8 balls. Does someone think I’m indecisive?
Lots of other cool stuff too. But hey, I’m off to play with them now!

Hate Crime/Hate Law

On Nov. 2, Ohio will vote on Issue 1, a state constitutional amendment that purports to simply ban same-sex marriage but actually goes much further. It essentially removes rights that one would think are human. If you thought Section 28 in the UK was bad then you should read all about the new laws sweeping the states. In Ohio it will mean that possibly legal rights of co-parents will be removed or nullified.
It smacks of bigotory and makes a mockery of a country that claims to stand for freedom.
Is it any wonder then that some savvy Australians have decided they have had enough of bigotory and hatred and decided to set up their own country?
Maybe the Americans should follow suit. Utah has long been the reserve of the Mormons. Maybe all gay people in the US should move to one state. Reform all the hateful laws and live in peace.
Oh but wait. President (and lets hope not for long) Bush will probably prevent local laws from allowing such abhorrent behaviour. Imagine living with someone you love and sharing the same legal rights as the moral majority.

preparing for emergencies

Yes I know most of you will have seen it already – it’s been in the papers and everything but hey.
The government in the UK in an attempt to scaremonger are producing pamphlets on how to deal with emergencies. Copies of the booklet will be sent to all households in the UK throughout August. Once the delivery is completed, people will be able to order alternative versions by post, or download them from the website.
So some bright spark has spoofed the website. That’s what makes the internet fun!
The real one (useful in an emergency when your internet connection has gone to hell and all forms of communication are down)
The spoof one (useful for laughing with your mates in the pub at the weekend)

Beckham’s Fruit of the Loom moment

Did you hear that David Beckham’s voice will be used for the announcements at the new Wembley stadium?

Wait for it, wait for it…

Apparently he comes over the PA very well.

Okay so by all accounts he didnt and he also took a dislike to the press insinuating that he did. He’s also taken issue to being snapped in his pants. Also the FA seem to have had a sense of humour failure. England soccer officials are angry at paparazzi photos splashed across British tabloid newspapers of star captain David Beckham in his underpants.
The Sun and the Daily Star newspapers printed the photographs on their front pages yesterday.

note to self: buy more candles

I am SERIOUSLY UNDERGAY.

I have a lot to learn from gay men. If I take on some of the lessons that gay men have to teach then girls will stop being disgusted by my behaviour and I’ll be more likely to find the woman of my dreams. I require urgent attention.

According to quite possibly the weirdest excuse for television programming since Queer Eye (the UK version is simply hideous and I can’t even watch the intro).
